I would pay money to have this, but not more than ten bucks. While it was loose in my bag, I was concerned the scanner would get bent or broken (paper guide tray like flaps fold over the surface of the scanner when packed up). The flaps open up out of the way and it works without removing the scanner from the case. There's room for the included USB cable, and there's a nice rubber covered port hole for the USB to plug in (so one can keep the scanner in the case and use it). The S1100 case is very nice-it's vinyl with a fabric reinforcing panel that covers 2 of the 4 bendy hinges. Bottom line, very rapid delivery of these things, I was expecting the usual 6-8 or 9-12 weeks.

I have the S1100, and there a couple of observations that are mac-unfriendly:ġ) They have a software disc with some bundled software, but only the driver can be downloaded for MBA or rMBP or iMacs without optical drives.

Of course, nothing prevents me to still rename and file them, but right now I don't do that.ĮDIT: Oh, they finally upgraded the iX 500's firmware / software so it now DOES wirelessly scan to PCs and Macs (most recently, it could do that only to mobile devices which, technically, made no sense at all). Works pretty well, but takes some time getting used to because practically I now NEED doo to access the files as they all have generic names based on the time of scanning. All (new) documents are stored in a flat folder and get tagged based on the documents' content. I am using doo (doo.net) now as document management software. My main issue is that any ordinary scanning software requires that I manually rename and file in appropriate folders the documents after scanning. Of course, it's not as fast as the ScanSnaps and it does not do duplex. So I ended up with a Samsung 2875FW which directly scans to either of the machines. In addition, none of the ScanSnaps scans via WLAN which sort of was a requirement because (i) I wanted to connect to computers and (ii) it should be sitting a bit away from the computers. I was in a similar situation but in the end decided I couldn't justify the amount for a separate scanner (I had to get a new printer anyway).
